I have never enjoyed camping. Unfortunately, I found that I did a lot of it when I was growing up. My parents insisted that I needed to go camping when they went, even if I didn’t ever like it. It was always so hot, and there were bugs biting us the whole time. If you wore the stinky bug repellent, it kind of helped, but then all of your food tasted the way it smelled. I also didn’t love how you always stink like smoke from the fire. If you wanted to be someplace partially warm and dry, you were required to be by the campfire. I always prayed for thunderstorms or disasters that would make our parents take us home. I definitely didn’t care what it was as long as I could get home to my shower, and my air conditioning. I couldn’t understand how anyone chose to do these things on purpose. As I got older, I eventually got the right to say no to going camping. I found out that I liked camping, however only under very specific conditions. I wanted to have a hotel by a mountainside, with a great Heating, Ventilation and A/C plan inside the room. I even settled for a great Heating, Ventilation and A/C system inside of a camper that had a shower and running water. I definitely wasn’t all that difficult to please. In any case, I simply didn’t want to be bit up by bugs, or required to sleep in damp sleeping bags on the ground. I definitely didn’t want to stink of wood smoke. Maybe I am picky and prissy, as my sister called me. But either way, I am also warm and dry.
