Grateful for a tough furnace

I thought I had my hands full when my husband had the flu, but when my mother got sick, it was ten times worse.  She keeps the space heater going all the time, and I even think she would have it on in the summer if we didn’t take it out of her room.  I had the thermostat turned up to seventy-five, but the doctor told me to keep it cooler because of her age, and the fact that she is prone to pneumonia.  She refused to get out of bed to go to the hospital to see her doctor. She yelled because I picked up the phone to call an ambulance, and I was exhausted and needed to get some sleep.  She told me to turn up the thermostat, and so I did. I heard her throwing things at her wall to get my attention, so I got out of bed and checked on her. She told me she was too hot and she wanted the thermostat turned down.  I turned the thermostat down, wiped her face and got her drink, and I went back to bed. An hour later, something hit the wall again. I put on a smile and walked into her room. She told me that she just wanted to tell me that she was feeling better.  I was so glad that her fever broke, and I kissed her forehead and told her I was going back to bed. My flu returned the next day, because I was exhausted from taking care of her and my husband. My HVAC system is getting a real workout this past two weeks.
