Dorm Living Complaints

I live in the college dorms. I have been living in the dorms for two years. I have a full scholarship for my college education. This included room and board. So, as much as I hate dorm living, I really am stuck. I have to keep up my grades, in order to keep my scholarship. Lately, I have been really done with this way of living. There are so many rules in the dorms. You can’t have a hot plate. You can’t have a portable electric heater. You can’t have a window box air conditioner. It feels like a prison. But, the heating and cooling issue is over the top annoying. The building has an old boiler system in the basement. The heat is random and inconsistent. If you aren’t in the building when it goes on, you aren’t going to even feel it! There is no air conditioning to speak and windows that open only a quarter of an inch! I was tired of going to the administration for help to no avail, but finally there was window. The resident advisor told me, now that I am going into my third year, I am able to be a resident advisor. When you get this job, you also get a private apartment in the building that has its own heating and cooling unit! Not only do you get an HVAC, but a stipend as well! I was totally excited to get out of the dorm life. I filed all the applications. I went on an interview and because my grades were on the honor roll, I was an instant hire. I am so excited to be able to turn on my own heating and cooling!
