Last fall my granddad called me on my cell phone while I was at work and asked for my help in picking a new furnace for his home. He had recently decided to make a big move for him to a smaller condo. He knew that with this body temperature sensitivity that he would need the Heating, Ventilation, & A/C system unquestionably updated first off. I went over to the condo, and granddad and I sat down to talk about the choices he might want in a new furnace for his home. He said that it needed his unit to be of the highest energy efficiency units on the market. He was on retirement funds and knew that would save him money on energy bills. The seasoned system had been forced air before him, so he thought the new unit should be the same as it would cost less to install through the different vents available than if he switched to a boiler system which would need radiators installed as well as detailed pipes running all over the house. I proposed that get our cousin Fred to come over and be a part of the conversation since he worked at a local Heating, Ventilation, & A/C business. We were certain he could come out and slowly explain some things about getting a new Heating, Ventilation, & A/C system. About two weeks later we sat with with my cousin to learn more than I ever needed to about new furnaces. My cousin said that my granddad was more specific than most about wanting to get the most energy efficient unit on the market. He was so focussed on his utilities since he was the only one paying them. He also proposed that a humidifier be added to the furnace which would help a great deal with the air quality in the condo making it much more comfortable for his difficult breathing issues. The next month the new furnace was being installed on my weekend visit with grandad and it was just in time for the wintertime spell which was approaching. The frosty temperatures were dipping down to cold. My granddad was unquestionably glad with his new furnace today.
