When my friends and I were fourteen, we got jobs working at one of the local horse farms. I thought it was going to be the best summer job ever, until I realized how terrible the smell would be. My friends and I were in charge of making sure that the barn was clean. It was our job to make sure that the horses had plenty of water and hey. It was also our job to make sure that the horses were free of animal feces. There was a large industrial-sized fan in the barn, but it did very little to help the smell. As the smells lingered on throughout the day, I secretly wished to get fired. I thought the job would have been a wonderful opportunity, but I wanted to be indoors where the A/C was cool. I had not thought about the A/C, or how it would affect the job at the barn. That was the last summer that I spent working outdoors. The next summer, I chose an office job. My friend went back to the farm, but I needed to feel the cold A/C all day long. As the two of us got older, I chose a career that focused on working indoors, and she went on to become a horse trainer. I don’t regret working in that office for one day. I enjoy the col A/C every day, and it’s one of the best perks of my job. When the summer season rolls around, I know that I will be cool and comfortable.
